On my first surf trip in warm water, my bikini kept falling off. In my hometown of Santa Cruz, CA, I wear a wetsuit and had never realized this was such a common issue for female surfers. I tried wearing surf shorts, but they restricted movement. I tried surfing naked, but the downsides of that are obvious.
I realized that in order to find a cute bikini that wouldn't fall off, I needed to make one. And so, in 2003 Ola Chica pioneered the movement to create flattering, functional women’s surfwear. That means no nip slips, ample coverage, and all style. We make the best suit for today’s waterwoman.
With athletic, stylish women dominating in lineups around the globe, our bikinis are designed and tested with you in mind. Our testers are pro-surfers, swimmers, SUPers, kayakers, river rafters, kite surfers, triathletes, and beach lovers. I design every piece, and they are handmade with high-quality, small-batch material. Through our manufacturing and production, we provide jobs and support to families in Indonesia and Brazil.

Growing up in California’s Central Coast “Surf City,” Santa Cruz, Aylana Zanville started surfing when she was fifteen and one of the only women in the lineup at her home break.
In her twenties, she went pro, placing in many competitions including a 1st place US Surfing Championship title.
After some years she realized that what she loved most about the whole experience -- travel, adventuring, and seeing the world through surfing and entrepreneurship -- could be best accomplished outside of the competitive pro-surfing environment.
So she launched Ola Chica in 2003 to share her passion for the ocean by providing attractive, high-quality, durable surfsuits and bikinis for waterwomen everywhere.
